World IP Day Conference 2022 - Mackenzie Building, Edinburgh

BOOKINGS are now being taken for the Faculty’s 14th World Intellectual Property Day Conference, expected to attract a full house. As this will be a hybrid event, lunch will not be provided, however tea and coffee will be available at registration from 11:30 to 12:00.

This year’s conference will be held online via Zoom and in person at the Mackenzie Building, Edinburgh.

In-person registration on the day opens at 11.30am for a 12 pm start, with tea and coffee on arrival.

Open to all advocates, solicitors, devils, trainees, students and other professionals with an interest in IP, it will be chaired by Roisin Higgins QC, an IP law specialist, and Graeme McWilliams, retired in-house lawyer and former IP manager at Standard Life.

This year, the World Intellectual Property Organisation has suggested a World IP Day theme of 'IP and Youth: innovating for a Better Future' and we will be celebrating IP in practice, creativity, and innovation. The full programme is available here.

We are delighted to welcome our two guest speakers:

Dr Paul Clarke, Senior Technology Transfer Manager, Edinburgh Innovations, who will be speaking about ‘Reflections on Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer and Commercialisation' and Graeme Di Rollo, Legal Counsel, Trustpilot, who will be speaking about 'Trust in IP: Innovations in brand protection'.
