Pro Bono Week 2024: The Power of Environmental Law

 

As part of Pro Bono Week 2024: The Power of Pro Bono, the Free Legal Services Unit are hosting a second event on the topic of Environmental Law. The event will be held in the Laigh Hall, Edinburgh at 5:00pm on Wednesday 4 November 2024. 

This event will discuss opportunities for advocates interested in pro bono environmental work.

The purpose of the event is to encourage members of the Faculty to offer their services pro bono in this area.

It will hear about the work of two public interest environmental law charities, the Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland and the Environmental Law Foundation.

There will be short presentations from:

  • The Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland.
  • The Environmental Law Foundation.
  • John Campbell KC, advocate, Themis Advocates.
  • Jessica Allen, barrister at No 5 Barristers Chambers.

After the panel, there will be a Q&A session as well as time to network with fellow legal professionals, charity sectors, those interested in Environmental Pro Bono work.

If you are interested in attending please register below and make a note of any dietary requirements by Tuesday 29 October as there will be refreshments and canapes served. 

Members of Faculty will also be awarded 1 hour of Advocacy CPD
