Book for the World Intellectual Property Day Conference 2024 - Friday 26 April 2024

This year’s conference will be held in the Mackenzie Building, Edinburgh and online.

Open to all advocates, solicitors, devils, trainees, students and other professionals with an interest in IP, it will be chaired by Roisin Higgins KC, an IP law specialist, and Graeme McWilliams, retired in-house lawyer and former IP manager at Standard Life.

This year, for World IP Day, the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva has suggested the theme of ‘Intellectual Property and the Sustainable Development Goals: Building our future with innovation and creativity’. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs include Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Good Health and Well-being, Affordable and Clean Energy, and Sustainable Cities and Communities.

We welcome two guest speakers who are well-placed to help us celebrate this annual World Intellectual Property Day event, and our speakers are:

Stephen Stenning OBE, Director Culture in Action, British Council, Edinburgh.

Who will talk about, 'From Theatre in London to Protecting Cultural Heritage in Syria via Dundee and my brushes with The Law'.

Philip Hall, Senior Legal Counsel in the Outsourcing, Technology & IP legal team, NatWest Group in Edinburgh.

Who will talk about, 'AI and the bringing together of creativity, innovation and technology etc.' "

The Faculty has kindly agreed to provide luncheon at the end of our event, so we are keen to encourage attendance and networking in person, although joining online via zoom will be available.
